I only joined Toastmasters International, just over a year ago, but I absolutely love, love, love it. My coach suggested that I hire a hall and do a talk about something and it struck me, how excited I was about the idea of speaking. I googled Toastmasters (my dad has been a TM for 31 years) and my town and discovered there was a club within a 5 minute drive from home.
The atmosphere was wonderful. Our club age ranges from 22 to 70 and we have at least 10 different nationalities represented. What struck me the most was the warm fuzzy support you get from other members!
I know I am scaring some of the more established members with my passion, but I am just so excited by the educational side of Toastmaster and the changes that it makes to people's lives. As VPE this year, I am promoting the leadership side of Toastmasters because I don't think most people realise how powerful it is, it has already made a difference to my life and allowed me to set higher goals for myself.
I working on becoming a DTM within 3 years.
